Armed with a list of “must-eat” pizza joints in New Haven, we were thrilled when we walked in the door of one of the most-recommended places and spied the gigantic pizzas on the tables. Modern’s is a no-frills, down-to-earth restaurant with some of the most fantastic pizza we have ever eaten. People did not lead us astray when they insisted that we eat New Haven’s fabulous version of the bread, tomato and cheese wonder.
